The George Szekeres Medal

The George Szekeres Medal is awarded for outstanding research achievement in a 15 year period for work done substantially in Australia. The prize is named for Professor George Szekeres AM FAA FAustMS whose distinguished career covered areas as diverse as number theory, combinatorics, analysis and relativity.

The Medal was first awarded in 2002 and was shared by:

Professor Ian Sloan FAA FAustMS, University of New South Wales.
Professor Alf van der Poorten FAustMS, Macquarie University.

Citations for the awards were published in the Gazette, (Vol 29, Number 5, Dec 2002, pp.284--286).

In 2004 the Medal was awarded to:

Robert (Bob) Anderssen FAustMS, CSIRO, Canberra.

In 2006 the Medal was awarded to:

Professor Anthony J. Guttmann FAA FAustMS, Melbourne University.
